06:33
Hi All. FYI. I have to leave at 10:50am.

06:43
Thanks Ethan.

15:09
how are you defining "transferred"?

31:48
The main thing I think about is cost and time barriers. For transfer students they often have to take additional courses to get to college readiness. Allowing them to transfer in one of their additional survey courses will help them move through their degree in a more timely manner and also give them a foundation to start the upper divisions courses.

33:15
I think the new acronym is WEIRD? (White, educated, from industrialized, rich and democratic)?

33:21
Yup

34:01
...from industrialized, rich and democratic nations.

35:38
I am curious what the hesitancy from a four-year perspective about allowing 201, 202 and an optional survey course to transfer as a potential psychology elective or one of the survey course required beyond general psy. How much does it impact the public universities and in what way?

38:40
I can only speak for CGCC, but we would be quite willing to make our syllabus match what the 4-years want.

39:26
We have to match our outcomes with the 4 -year outcomes. Also, OSU-cascades does accept the equivalent.

41:52
SOU accepts the lower division and asks the student to make up the UD credits somewhere else. But sometimes the nursing programs they are applying to want an upper division lifespan class to be admitted to the program

49:01
OR a graduate student.

49:14
I taught all the courses as graduate students.

51:54
Some of that will be resolved with the CCN work

52:43
100% agree we don't make them take double.

56:09
Does it have to be required? some community college may not have the additional courses.

56:15
I think UO does not accept the 3rd LD Psych course as an elective in the major. Not sure if it can fulfill Gen Ed.

56:24
the downside is only if they then have to take additional lower level courses and then that pushes them over the 180

58:16
Zip: good point. The options of what could be taught will be dependent on the resources at the community college.

58:51
@Maria Lynn you are right we do not want to ADD to CC course load but from the data I get the sense that is not an issue currently

59:46
Nursing programs and Masters level counselling programs are the places where we see the most students moving past the BA/S level. You are right, experimental programs are less common.

01:01:39
I like the idea of psych classes at the CC that they might not be able to get at the 4-years - and that can transfer as a PSY elective

01:04:10
So who is all working all these different groups and why are there so many different requirements?

01:05:36
I feel like I am right back to where I started where I advise to an AAOT and look at individual schools (outside our agreement on the gen ed courses--thank you so much for that!)

01:06:12
OSU has no limit on the LL we accept as electives....

01:06:27
Or what is off the list?

01:13:40
I like that--especially for larger discussion about the psychology major in general and supporting our transfer students success overall.

01:18:51
You have been great Kia! Thanks for all your cat wrangling.

01:19:42
If you have ideas for agenda items for the next meeting please put them in the chat and we will discuss in the last 5 minutes.

01:19:43
Shenangians!

01:20:16
Nov 22nd? next meeting

01:21:01
Agenda items: Finalize the psych elect plan (from today); confirm the survey responses; review narrative draft.

01:21:50
I will be asking my advisors to try to compare performance at OSU between psych majors as a function of whether they transferred with an extra psych course or not.

01:22:50
So publics wait to see he CC outcomes right?

01:23:14
BTW, our psych outcomes almost directly map onto APA Guidelines 2.0 (which made it easy).

01:23:22
us too!

01:23:36
That is our plan! with the outcomes!
